Back Door Grill – Steamboat Springs

Found a block off the main strip on Oak & 9th St in Steamboat. Voted Best of Boat and Trip Advisor’s #1 burger. These are both enormous claims and I had to check it out.  Family owned, opened in 2014 with their passion for fresh, natural ingredients and a love of old fashioned burgers. Which completely shows! Mostly outside sitting which is great for me, the weather is fantastic and you can watch people come and go. Cool little thing is when you go inside there are $1.00 bills stapled to the walls like wallpaper. Question I asked myself is how many dollars are hung up? Are there a thousand or million dollars? 

The Big Blue Burger

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The place was clean and they made sure to have seats ready for more people to come in. This burger was ordered as a double. Soft and flavorful, the potato buns were toasted perfectly and complemented the burger.  The softness and the taste were outstanding for a bun. The toppings were creamy blue cheese that had a bold, great taste paired with bacon. The bacon was crispy, flavorful and they did not hold back on quantity. I kept it simple, did not order lettuce, tomatoes or onions (although all were an option). The thickness of the meat was ¼ inch on each patty. Think chubby smash burger. The flavor of the meat was outstanding with minimal seasoning which let the meat shine. The juices ran off the buns and packed a lot of great taste with the toppings that made it GREAT. The fries were hand cut and fried just right, crispy and they did not hold back on amount at all. *They also have homemade Onion Rings that are hand battered and spicy which make for some memorable rings. The size of the meal was spot on for the price, I walked away stuffed for sure. The price of the meal was 16.99 for the double. I feel the price was dead on for the great quality and quantity of food. It is worth mentioning that our burgers were delivered under 15 minutes which was a happy surprise. Plus you’re in Steamboat, there are few better dining options. 

Bottom line: is this the best burger in CO? I am not ready to make that claim BUT it is as close as it gets for Burger Mike right now.
